The physicians of UConn Health form the region’s largest multispecialty practice. This includes a wide range of outpatient services, ranging from primary care, OB/GYN and dermatology to personalized services for older adults through the UConn Center on Aging, and many specialty services. Patients are seen on the Farmington campus, as well as satellite offices in West Hartford, East Hartford, Avon, Simsbury and Southington.

Professional nurses excel in an environment that acknowledges and rewards the individual clinician. John Dempsey Hospital is proud of its accomplished nursing staff, many of whom have earned advanced degrees or completed specialized training in areas such as cardiology, emergency medicine and neonatology. In fact, three of our nurse practitioners were among the first to earn their doctorate in nursing practice degrees from the UConn School of Nursing, a new doctorate program focused on enhanced clinical care.
Many of the nurses at John Dempsey Hospital have chosen a career in bedside care and have completed the requirements for promotion on the “clinical ladder” that recognizes and rewards nurses who have achieved and maintained a level of clinical expertise in their practice. Along with outstanding clinical skills, these nurses have a proven record of empowering patients and promoting healing through careful listening, empathy, ongoing education and family support.
John Dempsey Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies organizations and programs in the U.S. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards.
