CHRO Approves Health Center's Affirmative Action Plan

I am pleased to announce that on January 12th, the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO) voted to approve our FY2005 Affirmative Action Plan.

Congratulations and my thanks to every member of the Health Center community for this outstanding accomplishment. The Commission’s actions recognized the seriousness of our commitment in implementing numerous “good faith efforts” toward achieving our affirmative action goals. Over the past 6 several months those efforts served to eliminate the deficiencies in our prior year plan. In the Commission’s approval of our FY2005 plan, the Commissioners noted that we had made acceptable progress and made clear their expectation for continued progress toward the actual achievement of our affirmative action goals.

Specifically, in terms of goal achievement the Health Center achieved 41% of the hire goal; 58% of the promotion goal; 28% of the set-aside goal for Small Business Enterprises and 52% of the set-aside goal for Minority Business Enterprises.

We must continue to keep this momentum going as we look forward to even greater accomplishments in not only meeting our affirmative action goals, but becoming a truly multicultural and exciting place to work.

I am personally grateful for the support and cooperation each of you has extended to achieving this important turn-around. You have demonstrated that at the Health Center we are committed -both in word and in deed to the highest principles of fairness and opportunity for all people.

I am extremely proud to be a part of our remarkable Health Center family.
