Update: Architectural Planning for New Tower, JDH Renovations
What will our new patient care tower look like? How will the new tower and the renovations within John Dempsey Hospital enhance patient experiences? How will these projects integrate with our academic and research goals?
These are among the many questions our architectural planning firm, SBA/HKS Architects, is pursuing in collaboration with staff throughout the Health Center.
I am pleased to report that they are now working intensely on the project. Last month, SBA/HKS conducted a productive “visioning” meeting with leaders around the Health Center. They will now begin an ongoing dialogue throughout the Health Center about the needs and goals of the entire renewal project. This week, they will meet with staff from clinical areas including dental medicine, cardiology, radiology, nursing, pharmacy and more. By the end of the month, they will create “mock-ups” of patient rooms and Emergency Department exam rooms.
Together, we’ve set an ambitious timeline and expect to share programming and master planning for the renovations and new patient care tower by January, when full schematic design will also begin. Like you, I am very excited to see their plans and recommendations. As always, please continue to share your thoughts about this exciting project with me.
