Message to the UConn Health Center and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Communities

The UConn Health Center and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center remain firmly committed to the goals of the UConn Health Network and the Connecticut Bioscience Initiative.

We have been extremely grateful in recent days by the outpouring of support we have received for the plan. We deeply appreciate comments made by our new Governor Dan Malloy, who last week reiterated his support for a renovated and expanded UConn Health Center. We have also received words of support from elected officials, our Boards of Directors, the University’s Board of Trustees and many community leaders.

In a show of unity and shared dedication to the UConn Health Network, the UConn Health Center and Connecticut Children’s yesterday submitted the attached letter to the state Office of Policy and Management. The letter articulates our continued commitment to the plan embodied in the law enacted last year and requests additional time to explore options for proceeding with Governor Malloy’s administration. In the meantime, we are asking our working groups to continue the excellent work they have already started on planning for the many aspects of the integration process.

Please know we appreciate your support as we work to advance all facets of the UConn Health Network. We look forward to great progress in the year ahead.
