Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs

Mary Casey Jacob, Ph.D., Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in the School of Medicine, and Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and OB/GYN, has submitted to me her resignation from the Office of Faculty Affairs in order to return to more traditional academic pursuits here at the Health Center.

A national search will be initiated for the position of Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs. Appointment of the search committee will be forthcoming. I have asked Dr. Jacob to remain in her current position until her position has been filled, and she has agreed.

Dr. Jacob joined the Health Center in 1991 as a medical psychologist caring for patients in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in particular, at The Center for Advanced Reproductive Services. She is an active educator who served for five years as the site director for the Greater Hartford Psychology Internship Consortium and for 10 years as the director for the second year course Human Development and Health. In 2005, she established the Office of Faculty Affairs which has been instrumental in establishing transparency and fairness in hiring, faculty appointments, promotion and tenure, and faculty appeals. With the significant assistance of Dr. Jeri Hepworth, a faculty development program was started and continues to grow. The work of this office is important, and will continue.

Please join me in thanking Casey for her many contributions to the School of Medicine, and wishing her continued success.
