Office of Communications Transition
After 16 years of service to the Health Center and the University of Connecticut, Jim Walter, Associate Vice President of Communications, will retire at the end of this month. Under Jimís leadership, we have increased our marketing presence in the community, enhanced electronic communications, strengthened our graphic identity and created awareness and interest around Bioscience Connecticut. Jim managed media relations during periods of transition and challenge, both on this campus and in Storrs. On a personal note, I am grateful to Jim for his assistance during my transition to the Health Center.
Upon Jimís departure, Maureen McGuire, Director of Marketing and Communications, will serve as interim AVP of Communications. In this capacity, she will lead marketing, public relations and communications efforts for the Health Center, including the web and internal communications. In addition, she will continue to lead the Communications Committee for Bioscience Connecticut.
Please join me in wishing Jim and his family a very happy and healthy retirement and extending best wishes to Maureen in her new endeavors.
Frank M. Torti, M.D., M.P.H.
