Dr. Jay R. Lieberman

It is with mixed emotions that I announce that Jay R. Lieberman, Professor and Chairman, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Director, New England Musculoskeletal Institute (NEMSI), has accepted the position of Chairman, Department of Orthopaedics at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.

Dr. Lieberman joined the Health Center in 2006 from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine. A nationally prominent hip and knee surgeon, he has advanced the Musculoskeletal Institute's educational, research and clinical missions and built a highly successful and respected multidisciplinary organization. Under his leadership, clinical faculty in the NEMSI has more than doubled, basic science research has flourished and a clinical outcomes unit was founded.

Dr. Lieberman will remain at the Health Center through the summer. A national search will be initiated for the Orthopaedic Surgery department chair and NEMSI director. Appointment of the search committee and interim leadership will be forthcoming.

Please join me in thanking Jay for his many contributions to the Health Center and wishing him continued success.
