Messages from the Executive Vice President

November 2, 2012

I am pleased to announce that Dr. David McFadden, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery, will serve as Surgeon-in-Chief for the University of Connecticut Health Center. In this new role, Dr. McFadden will partner with the Medical Director of the Operating Room and the Operating Room Executive Committee to ensure a culture of professionalism and accountability associated with exemplary patient care. His scope of authority will span all facets of the operative encounter, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care at John Dempsey Hospital and the Farmington Surgery Center.

Working collaboratively with anesthesia, nursing, and administrative leadership, Dr. McFadden will be instrumental in developing and deploying strategic initiatives, capital allocation, quality improvement and operational efficiency efforts within surgical services. Dr. McFadden served in a similar role previously at West Virginia University and the University of Vermont.

Please join me in congratulating and supporting Dr. McFadden in this additional leadership role.
