Ensuring a Healthy Future
A message from
Frank M. Torti and Andrew Agwunobi
Many efforts are underway to strengthen UConn Health, including the recent opening of our Urgent Care Center in Storrs Center, our television and radio campaign highlighting UConn Health, major patient service improvements, new business initiatives, and more. The future of our academic medical center is bright, especially with our new Outpatient Pavilion opening early next year and the new hospital tower opening in 2016.
We do want to be completely open about the financial challenges we face. Fiscal year 2015 will be extremely challenging. We are working diligently with Berkeley Research Group to achieve long-term financial savings. In the short-term, as we close FY 14 and plan for FY 15, considerable effort will be directed toward achieving savings and cost efficiencies.
All of us, as stakeholders in the future of UConn Health, can play a role. Your insights and efforts are needed. Share your thoughts about potential savings or new approaches with your manager or Dr. Andy Agwunobi, our Chief Transformation Officer, at email@example.com. All suggestions are welcome.
While our financial challenges are real, we will continue to support our core values and commitment to provide excellent clinical care, world-class research, and forward-thinking medical and dental education. However, we must find a way to do so in a more efficient, less costly and sustainable way. Working together, we will ensure the future of UConn Health.
Frank M. Torti
Executive Vice President for Health Affairs
Dean, UConn School of Medicine
