Dentin/ Enamel Adhesives

Bond Strength, Bond Longevity and Microleakage
The evaluation of the influence of various clinical parameters on the bond strength and microleakage of commercially available dentin/enamel adhesive systems has been an interest and focus of my research over the last 15 years. The durability/longevity of dentin/composite bonds is a critical factor for clinicians and I have shown that there is a consistent pattern of bond strength loss and increase in microleakage over time with all categories of dentin/enamel adhesives.

Fiber-Reinforced Composites
Working in conjunction with our FRC research group – Dr. Goldberg and Dr. Freilich – many studies and papers have been generated on the in vitro properties and clinical performance of fiber – reinforced composites. Clinical trials of lab fabricated three unit FRC bridges on natural teeth, hybrid implant prostheses, three unit implant supported bridges and chair side pre-fabricated framework bridges have provided a wealth of information on the clinical expectations and performance of this class of dental material. The further refinement and improvement of FRC use for tooth replacement is a focus of future research.
