Child Care
The Saint Francis Child Care Center, for employees and house staff,
is housed in an attractive, homelike setting across the street from
the hospital. Licensed facilities exist for infant-toddler care as well
as a fine pre-school program. The Creative Child Care Center is a developmentally-based,
University of Connecticut Health Center sponsored program in Farmington.
It accepts children as young as six weeks. Preschool and kindergarten
experiences are offered up to age six. Fun Spring and summer find many of us hiking and biking, playing softball, tennis, and canoeing on the
region's rivers and lakes. Our "formal" department social activities include an annual summer
family picnic, a holiday dinner and dance, and a graduation ceremony in June. Additionally, many
smaller outdoor and/or potluck events are held throughout the year. A highlight is our annual
February ski trip into the mountains of nearby New Hampshire or Vermont. We also celebrate the end
of each week with Friday afternoon refreshments at the Practice Center. Fitness Center
 |
Saint Francis has its own fitness center, located at 95 Woodland Street, next door to the family
practice center. This low-cost facility has excellent equipment, classes and staff, with hours
convenient for house staff. |
