Osteopathic Programs
The University of Connecticut offers two different Osteopathic post-graduate training programs. We have a Traditional Rotating Internship, which satisfies both the AOA and ACGME requirements for internship ("dually-accredited"). After completing the one-year Traditional Rotating Internship, trainees may continue on in the allopathic Internal Medicine Residency Program as a PGY2, or seek training in a non-medicine specialty such as Radiology or Anesthesia.
We also offer a Traditional Rotating Internship linked with an Osteopathic Internal Medicine Residency Program. This program is a three year program. It satisfies all requirements for Internships and Residencies as set forth by both the AOA and the ACGME ("dually-accredited") The Combined program leads to Board eligibility for both AOA/AOBIM and ACGME/ABIM Internal Medicine certifying exams and allows residents to apply to both osteopathic and allopathic fellowships.
Application to both programs should be made through ERAS. On ERAS, the Traditional Rotating Internship is the 1-year program and the Traditional Rotating Internship Linked to Internal Medicine is the 3-year program.
