Hartford Hospital

Hartford Hospital is one of the largest and most respected teaching hospitals and tertiary care centers in New England. Part of Hartford Healthcare, Hartford Hospital and The Institute of Living share an extensive medical campus with Connecticut Children's Medical Center. One of Connecticut Children’s Medical Center’s Level 3 NICUs is located within the hospital and with 5000 deliveries each year, it also is the site for the well newborn experience.

The hospital includes on campus, The Institute of Living (IOL), a 114-bed mental health facility with a national and international reputation for excellence in care, education and research. The IOL houses a CARES unit providing acute inpatient psychiatric treatment to many pediatric patients who present initially to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Emergency Department.

The hospital is home to the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI), one of the most-advanced medical simulation training centers in the world. Medical providers from across the world have trained at CESI, which also is the Northeast’s largest robotic surgery center. CESI is expanding to further increase its training and development of innovative treatments in patient care.
