Where Residents Live

The Hartford area provides an opportunity to conveniently live in an urban, suburban, or country setting. No matter where you live, theater, film, music, sports, and restaurants are all within easy reach.

Many local towns retain their New England heritage with town centers and many recreational areas, and there are numerous small and charming rural communities only a little farther away from the city.

A few residents choose to live in the city and enjoy the proximity to the hospitals as well as the many opportunities often found in urban settings. However, the majority of our residents live in West Hartford, a suburb located just four miles from CT Children’s Medical Center. West Hartford is known for its selection of restaurants, cafes and pubs and was selected as one of the 10 best cities to live in by Kiplinger Magazine 2010 and the #45 best city to live by Money Magazine 2014.

Housing Information

A few weeks after the match, the Capital Area Consortium sends a welcome packet to all incoming residents which includes a list of housing information.  As residents graduate, home/condo/apartment owners contact the Capital Area Consortium with available housing. You may also obtain a list of where our current residents live by contacting the University of Connecticut Pediatric Residency program coordinator, Aida Velez, avelez@connecticutchildrens.org.
