Residency Training in Orthopaedic Surgery Faculty
Dr. Jay R. Lieberman is Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Director of the Musculoskeletal Institute. Dr. Bruce D. Browner is Chairman-Emeritus and Residency Program Director. There are 11 full-time faculty at the University of Connecticut Health Center (listed below). There are 28 clinical orthopaedic surgery faculty at Hartford Hospital (website link) and 20 clinical orthopaedic surgery faculty at St.FrancisHospital and Medical Center (website link) under the direction of the Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. There are 5 full time faculty at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center (website link) who are closely associated with the University's educational commitment. Most Hartford area surgeons participate as clinical faculty in the training of residents at the affiliated hospitals. Many of these surgeons are recognized nationally for their expertise in the special areas of orthopaedic surgery. There are also numerous other non-Orthopaedic Surgery faculty doing clinical and basic science musculoskeletal research in the University of Connecticut Health Center’s Musculoskeletal Institute and at the above affiliated hospitals.
