East Meets West at Ayurvedic Medicine Conference June 4-6

FARMINGTON, Conn. – East meets West at the Interlaken Inn in Lakeville June 4 through 6 when the International Society for Ayurveda and Health holds its first international retreat and conference.

Internationally renowned Ayurvedic physicians Dr. Vasant Lad and Dr. Robert Svoboda will be joined at the conference by National Institutes of Health faculty member, author and researcher Dr. Esther Sternberg, as well as University of Connecticut School of Medicine Dean Dr. Peter Deckers and Assistant Professor Dr. Amala Guha.

Ayurveda is the world’s oldest comprehensive health care system, founded in India more than 6,000 year ago. Ayurvedic combines two Sanskrit words to mean literally, “the science of life.” It has its roots in ancient vedic literature and encompasses the whole of human life including the body, mind and spirit.

The conference will look at a number of Ayurvedic interventions and related aspects, and it is appropriate for physicians and nurses, psychologists, scientists and researchers, health care providers, medical students, as well as holistic practitioners and clinicians. Of course the general public is invited, too.

Registration for the conference through April 30 is $200 for students, $300 for ISAH members and $450 for non-members. Companions of registrants may sign up for $275.

After April 30, late registration fees are $250 for students; $400 for members and $500 for non-members. One day registration is also available, call 860-561-4857 for more information.

Registration includes all seminars, events and workshops. Lodging is available at the Interlaken Inn and includes meals. Call 800-222-2909 and identify yourself as a conference attendee.

Other presenters include faculty from New York Medical College, Valhalla; University of New Mexico Medical School; University of Maryland; Ayurvedic medical school of Banaras Hindu University, India.

In addition to presenters, the conference will feature booths and exhibits offering a variety of Eastern and Western healing modalities.

Continuing education credits are available. Continuing Nursing Education credits are pending.

ISAH is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting scientific and clinical understanding of Ayurveda, the ancient system of healing from India. ISAH explores Ayurveda and its aspects through research, discussions, lectures, scientific meetings, publications, and wellness programs.
