UConn Expert to Discuss Postpartum Mental Health Issues
Farmington, Conn. – What are some of the mental health problems that can follow pregnancy and how can they be treated? Catherine Lewis, M.D., a nationally recognized expert with the
University of Connecticut Health Center, will explore these issues during a talk sponsored by Celebrate Women, the women’s health membership program of the UConn Health Center, on Monday,
December 13.
Dr. Lewis’ presentation will run from noon to 1 p.m. in the Onyiuke Dining Room (use main hospital entrance). To register, call Celebrate Women at 1-866-4-FEMALE or 860-679-8899.
Dr. Lewis will discuss the warning signs of depression after pregnancy, the prognosis for women with various postpartum disturbances and the treatment of postpartum psychiatric issues. In
addition, she will talk about ways to prevent postpartum mental health problems.
Celebrate Women is a free membership program designed to help women of all ages enhance their health. Women who join receive free, timely health information as well as invitations to
seminars and programs designed for women.
