Child Magazine Recognizes the Center for Advanced Reproductive Services at UConn Health Center
Farmington, Conn. – The Center for Advanced Reproductive Services at the University of Connecticut Health Center is included in an exclusive list of commendable fertility practices in the
August edition of Child Magazine, a national publication for parents.
In 2003, the magazine performed an extensive study of more than 400 fertility centers across the country, looking at criteria such as high success rates, laboratory certification and birth
rates of triplets. Only about 20 practices made the “commendable” list.
“Obviously, we are very proud to be recognized,” said John Nulsen, M.D., of the Center for Advanced Reproductive Services. “What this study really tried to do was to examine and classify
fertility practices based on many levels to help patients learn more about them. Until now, only The Centers for Disease Control has done this – and their list is only based on one criterion –
which is success rates,” he added.
“The Child Magazine study looked at information that goes much deeper, like the complexity of a practice’s infertility cases, research endeavors, and range of services offered,” Dr.
Nulsen said.
The Center for Advanced Reproductive Services offers many advanced techniques to help patients achieve successful pregnancies. UConn was one of the first IVF centers in Connecticut and is
currently the largest such center in the state. In 2004, the Center opened a satellite office in Hamden at 2080 Whitney Avenue for the convenience of patients in southern Connecticut.
The University of Connecticut Health Center includes the schools of
medicine and dental medicine, John Dempsey Hospital, the UConn Medical
Group and University Dentists. Founded in 1961, the Health Center
pursues a mission of providing outstanding health care education in an
environment of exemplary patient care, research and public service. To
