Road Race to Support Infertility Awareness Is September 11th

Farmington, Conn. – The Center for Advanced Reproductive Services at the University of Connecticut Health Center is a sponsor of the American Fertility Association’s 5K road race on Sunday, September 11, in Danbury. The race is part of a national campaign, “Fertility Dream,” which includes events across the country to help raise awareness about fertility issues and raise funds for research and advocacy.

The Sept. 11th event is open to participants of all fitness levels, from elite runners to walkers, and will be held in Danbury’s City Center at 3:30 p.m. The race entry fee is $40. For more details, including registration, visit http://www.uconnfertility.com.

Funds raised through “Fertility Dream” events in Danbury, Boston, Tucson and Chicago will support AFA advocacy efforts and ongoing research. In addition, funds raised will ensure that access to resources and information through the AFA's "No Barriers" program remains free to all who need it.

The Center for Advanced Reproductive Services offers many techniques to help patients achieve successful pregnancies. UConn was one of the first IVF centers in Connecticut and is currently the largest such center in the state. In 2004, the Center opened a satellite office in Hamden at 2080 Whitney Avenue for the convenience of patients in Southern Connecticut.

The University of Connecticut Health Center includes the schools of medicine and dental medicine, John Dempsey Hospital, the UConn Medical Group and University Dentists. Founded in 1961, the Health Center pursues a mission of providing outstanding health care education in an environment of exemplary patient care, research and public service.
