Mini Medical School Courses in June
FARMINGTON, CONN. – A series of presentations designed to reflect
medical school classes, and adapted for the general public, is being
offered at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Titled Mini
Medical School, topics generally reflect those offered to UConn medical
students and will be presented by UConn medical school faculty.
The classes will be held during June in the Massey Auditorium from 7
to 9 p.m. Mini-medical school is free, but registration is required.

The dates and topics are as follows:
June 1 - Community Medicine & Health Care: A stimulating
medical ethics presentation entitled “From Quinlan to Schiavo: The
Evolving Debate on End of Life Decisions.”
June 8 – Neurology: An introduction to the basic science of
neurology, with individual presentations on Parkinson’s Disease, Optic
Neuritis/MS, and Muscle Disease.
June 15 – Family Medicine: Dual presentations focusing on
integrative/complementary and alternative medicine and mind-body
medicine.
June 22 – Cardiology: An introduction to the basic science of
cardiology, including presentations on heart disease, heart attack and
heart rhythm disorder (arrhythmia).
June 29 – Pulmonary Medicine: An introduction to the basic
science of pulmonary medicine encompassing presentations on “How the
Lung Defends Itself” and “Modern Therapy of Asthma in Adults.”
The Office of Continuing and Community Education at UConn Health
Center is sponsoring the series.
