National Depression Screening Day
Free Screenings and Lecture Offered on October 5
FARMINGTON, CONN. – If you’ve been suffering emotional changes and
don’t feel like yourself, you can take advantage of a special public
service. The University of Connecticut Health Center, Department of
Psychiatry, is holding free, anonymous mental health screenings for
depression, manic-depression, generalized anxiety disorder and
post-traumatic stress disorder on National Depression Screening Day on
Thursday, October 5.
The screenings will take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m., noon to 2 p.m.
and 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Department of Psychiatry in Farmington at 10
Talcott Notch Road, East Lobby, 3rd Floor. Participants will view a
video on anxiety and depressive disorders, complete an anonymous
screening questionnaire, obtain information on mental disorders and have
a confidential meeting with a health care professional. To make an

Discovery Series Program
In addition, “Depression Across the Generations” will be the subject of
a Discovery Series program at the UConn Health Center on Thursday,
October 5. Depression, in youths to seniors, will be discussed. Speakers
will include UConn Health Center psychiatrists Andrew Winokur, M.D.,
Daniel Connor, M.D., and Mahlon Hale, M.D.
The Discovery Series is free and begins at 7 p.m. in the Health Center’s
Keller Auditorium. Registration is required. Please call 800-535-6232
