New Outpatient Psychiatric Service for Youths Now Available at UConn Health Center

Farmington, Conn. - The Psychiatry Department at UConn Health Center has started a new outpatient treatment program for children and adolescents ages six to 17 and their families.

The program provides consultations, psychosocial assessments, and medication management for youngsters suffering from mood and anxiety disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and trauma related disorders ranging from physical, sexual and emotional abuse. Individual group and family therapy is also available.

“Children who display symptoms like excessive worry or sadness, restlessness, sleep difficulties and irritability may be suffering from mental illnesses or disorders,” says David Albert, Ph.D., assistant professor of psychiatry and director of the new program. “Treatment can help these young people feel better and avoid or overcome problems with family, friends and with school.”

The program is located at the UConn Health Partners Office at 65 Kane Street in West Hartford. For more information, call 860-679-6700.
