About the artist:
Denise Hartz, of Old Saybrook, brings a unique style to her
paintings, saying she looks for simple, complete images that evoke
the spirit of the natural world and personal experiences. “I use the
simplest visual language of marks, shapes and forms. I try to make
my work as personal and as universal as possible,” she states.
Hartz has exhibited in more than 90 juried group shows in New
England during the past 20 years. She’s participated twice in
two-person shows at the Pump House Gallery in Hartford, and in
one-person shows at Demeter’s Door Gallery in Simsbury, the Dunedin
Pubic Library in Dunedin, Fla., and a previous exhibit at the Health
Center.
A Hartford native, she attended the University of Connecticut
School of Fine Arts and is a member of the Connecticut Academy of
Fine Arts and Connecticut Women Artists, Inc.
