Landscape Artist Exhibit at UConn Health
Center
Who: Constance LaPalombara
What: “Perceptions”
Where: Main Lobby and Mezzanine, UConn Health Center, 263
Farmington Ave., Farmington
When: June 14 through September 16
About the artist:
Constance LaPalombara says her interest in landscape art comes
from the summers she spent painting in the Italian countryside.
However, in recent years, the urban landscape has been the primary
focus of her work paintings. Mostly using oils, but also watercolor,
she works from direction observation. “Light, or the sensation of
light, and the emotion it evokes, whether through its presence or
absence,” she writes, “is at the heart of the work.”
An accomplished artist, LaPalombara has exhibited widely at
galleries, museums, art centers and other venues in the U.S. and
Italy, and has been awarded prizes by the Creative Arts Workshop and
the Paint and Clay Annual Show in New Haven; the Firehouse Gallery
in Milford; Quick Center for the Arts, Fairfield University;
Guilford Art League; Discovery Museum in Bridgeport; Chrysler
Museum, Norfolk, Va., and others. Her works hang in public
collections in New York, Connecticut and Italy.
LaPalombara earned a master’s in fine art from the Tyler School
of Art, Temple University in Philadelphia. She is a recipient of an
Artists Fellowship from the Connecticut Commission on the Art.
The University of Connecticut Health Center’s collection of fine
arts serves to enhance the environment and promote the sense of a
caring community for patients, visitors, staff and students. Art is
selected, acquired and exhibited by the UCHC Art Advisory Committee.
