When: September 24 through November 28, daily 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

About the artist:
Drawing and painting since kindergarten, Marilyn Pet, now a grandmother, has always found time to include art in her life. She best enjoys working with graphite and creating flowers, fungi, vegetables and other natural items. “My subjects sometimes shrivel while I work, but never need to be told to hold still,” she states.

Pet has taken art courses at the University of Connecticut and Manchester Community College and attended Guilford’s Connecticut Summer Art Program and New Haven’s Creative Arts Workshop, as well as drawing courses at the New York Botanical Gardens. She currently studies with well-known botanical illustrator Graziella deSolodow.

Pet has won multiple awards from the East Hartford Art League including the Purchase Prize in 2004. She is a member and officer at the East Hartford Art League, and a member of the Connecticut Watercolor Society, the American Society of Botanical Artists and the Society of Natural Science Illustrators-Greater New York Chapter.

A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Pet also earned a master’s degree and a law degree at the university. She is an active member of the East Hartford community, where she and her husband reside and run a real estate business.
