You Only Have One Heart
Feb. 26 Discovery Series will look at the Heart and Vascular System
FARMINGTON, CONN. – During American Heart Month, experts from the
Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center at the University of
Connecticut Health Center will present, “You Only Have One Heart,” a
special Discovery Series lecture about the inner workings of the
heart and vascular system.
The free program will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26 in the
Health Center’s Keller Auditorium. The snow date is Feb. 28. To

During the program, Bruce T. Liang, M.D., director of the Pat and
Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center, will present an overview about how
the heart’s arteries, valves and vessels function.
Cardiologist Kanwar Singh, M.D., will talk about the benefits of
vascular screenings and what men and women need to know about the
risk factors, signs and symptoms of vascular disease.
Lastly, vascular surgeon Michael S. Dahn, M.D., will talk about
innovations in the treatment of peripheral arterial disease,
including procedures to open and treat blockages outside the heart,
in the legs, abdomen or neck.
“Our goal is to educate the public about the prevention, early
detection and treatment of all facets of cardiovascular disease,”
Dr. Liang explained.
