UConn Dermatology Practice Continues to Grow
FARMINGTON, CONN. – Arni Kristjansson, M.D., has joined the
University of Connecticut Health Center. He is seeing patients at
the Department of Dermatology in Farmington.
Kristjansson is board certified in both dermatology and
dermatopathology. He practices general clinical dermatology, which
includes acne, rashes, moles and skin cancers. He also is doing
clinical lab work in the dermatopathology laboratory, analyzing skin
biopsies from the Health Center and from private practitioners in
the community.
“It’s like an extra layer of care, seeing patients and being in
the lab,” Kristjansson says. “If I see a patient with a difficult
rash, for instance, I can do the biopsy and take a look at it. It
can be helpful to be able to see both the patient and the specimen.”
“Dr. Kristjansson is an outstanding dermatologist and
dermatopathologist,” says Jane Grant-Kels, M.D., chief of
dermatology at the UConn Health Center. “We are very fortunate to
have him as a member of our team and faculty.”
Kristjansson graduated from medical school at the University of
Iceland, and did his internship and residency training in Reykjavik
before coming to the U.S. He completed an internship and dermatology
residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa
City. His fellowship training was in dermatopathology at Case
Western Reserve University and its primary partner, University
Hospitals of Cleveland.
In addition to his clinical duties and lab work, Kristjansson is
an assistant professor of dermatology at the UConn School of
Medicine.
Kristjansson, 35, lives in West Hartford.
