Knees in Motion

Discovery Series Free Lecture on Jan. 29

FARMINGTON, CONN. – The latest news about knees, from injury prevention to cutting edge treatments, will be discussed during a free lecture on Tuesday, Jan. 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the University of Connecticut Health Center’s Keller Auditorium.

Speakers for the Discovery Series “Knees in Motion” will be Dr. Jay Lieberman, director of the Health Center’s New England Musculoskeletal Institute and professor and chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Dr. Robert Arciero, professor and chief of the Sports Medicine Division of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and an active team physician for the UConn athletic programs.

Your knee is a relatively simple joint that is required to do a complicated job… to provide flexible mobility while bearing considerable weight. For example, just walking down the street, our knees bear three to five times our body weight. With the number of knee problems increasing among people of all ages, Drs. Arciero and Lieberman will discuss the anatomy of the knee; knee injuries in the athlete and weekend warrior; and osteoarthritis of the knee and how to maintain an active lifestyle.

The Discovery Series is free but registration is required by calling 800-535-6232 or email ccda@up.uchc.edu.
