Clinical Career Day at UConn Health Center
More Than 300 High School Students to Attend
FARMINGTON, CONN. – More than 300 high school students from 16
area schools will be attending Clinical Career Day at the
University of Connecticut Health Center on Wednesday, March 19,
from 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Workforce shortages in the health care industry
are reaching crisis levels. This event will provide students with
valuable information aimed at sparking their interest in pursuing a
career in the health professions.
Students will have the opportunity to attend a variety of
health-related workshops such as musculoskeletal medicine,
diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation services, anatomic pathology and
athletic training. A “career fair” will also be held so the students
can learn more about the opportunities available to them in
different medical fields including dental medicine, nursing and
pharmacy.
The event is sponsored by the UConn Health Center’s Human
Resources Department, Area Health Education Center (AHEC) and
Celebrate Health Program.
The University of Connecticut Health Center includes the schools
of medicine and dental medicine, John Dempsey Hospital, the UConn
Medical Group and University Dentists. Founded in 1961, the Health
Center pursues a mission of providing outstanding health care
education in an environment of exemplary patient care, research and
