Literature and Medicine Group
The Literature and Medicine group would like to extend an invitation to the Health Center community to join this reading discussion group.
About Literature and Medicine
The objective of this program is to have health care providers read broadly in the humanities literature in order to develop insights into human nature than can be related to the practice of medicine. The group has been meeting for 10 years and has been well-received by physicians, nurses, students, and staff.
How It Works
Participants attend five meetings per year (January to May) facilitated by an experienced scholar of literature, to explore works of fiction, poetry, drama and nonfiction that illuminate issues central to caring for people, whether well, sick or dying.
Upcoming Discussion Dates and Topics
There are no discussions scheduled at this time.
The program is sponsored by the Department of Community Medicine and the Robert U. Massey Fund for History of Medicine and Medical Humanities.
